What is an Otolaryngologist (ENT)?
An otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat) is a specialist that provides medical and surgical treatment of the ear, nose, throat, neck and related areas. This includes the treatment of the sinuses, voice box and hearing. Snoring, swallowing problems, lumps or masses in the neck, face or throat are also treated by this specialist.
Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. An ENT specialist is ready to start practicing after 13 years or more of college and post graduate training. To qualify for board certification, the applicant must complete college, medical school and at least five years of specialty training. Next, the physician must pass the American Board of Otolaryngology examination to be board certified. The board examination consists of a written examination and a separate oral examination. Dr. Chu passed both of these test.
