The Pillar
Procedure
If snoring is your problem, then give us a call to discuss the Pillar Procedure. It may be the
answer to your problem.
The pillar procedure is a relatively simple procedure performed in our office. Dr. Chu places three, tiny woven
polyester inserts to stiffen the structure of the soft palate to help reduce both the vibration that causes snoring
and the ability of the soft palate to obstruct the airway.
Once in place, the inserts add structural support in the muscular layer of the
soft palate and induce a tissue response that secures them within the palate. Over the next 8-12 weeks
fibrosis creates additional stiffening and structural support of the soft palate
This procedure is minimally invasive and can be performed in a single office visit. After procedure
pain is considered minimal. This procedure is FDA approved for OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) and snoring.
